Mountain Vista Medical Center is a 178-bed, state-of-the-art hospital located in east Mesa, Arizona, offering comprehensive health care services, including emergency care, heart care, advanced surgical procedures, orthopedics, breast care, maternity care, and women’s services.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager, this position participates in activities associated with the trauma registry, including data gathering, data abstraction, timely and accurate data entry/coding, data validation and reporting that meets trauma center requirements. Acts as a member of the multidisciplinary trauma team to support patient quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year experience in billing and charge capture in the acute care environment
  • Required License/Certification: None

Preferred Requirements:

  • 3 + years experience
  • Experience in ICD-10 coding, AIMS coding and AAAM coding
  • Willingness to obtain coding certifications
  • Advanced education in medical anatomy and terminology. Familiar with ICD-coding and knowledgeable with computer use. Two years of coding, abstracting and data management work experience. Certified Specialist Trauma Registry (CSTR) preferred. Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) preferred.

Required SKILL SET: Must be able to adapt the work schedule to meet the demands of the department. Proficient computer skills with expertise in MS Office; Ability to adapt to change and manage time. Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to exercise independent judgment in the completion of assignments and duties. Ability to speak and write English fluently.
