Position Title: Director of Business Development
JOB SUMMARY:
The director of Business and Physician Development is responsible and accountable for the strategic development and operational implementation of services at assigned campus and/or facilities. The Director will focus on targeted provider recruitment and on-boarding in pursuit of expanding Steward’s physician and provider network. The Director’s scope will include oversight of outreach activities, as well as promotion of service lines. The director facilitates organization and management to achieve optimal and appropriate resource utilization by building and maintaining Service Line Development and performance improvement activities. The Director will provide support to hospital facilities operation management related to physicians, including primary care, specialists, and subspecialists who practice in hospital and outpatient settings. The Director will have strategic, ongoing communications and interactions with the relevant market leadership from both a strategic and tactical standpoint.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently supports the hospital’s Standards of Excellence, in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of Steward.
- Identify key areas of growth, partner in the development of a strategic plan, project manage the execution of that plan and analyze outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Oversees physician recruiting and contracting in collaboration with the Regional VP Network Strategy and Physician Development.
- Collaborates effectively with Regional VP Network Strategy & Physician Development. Proactively identifies practice/business development opportunities to increase market share.
- Communicate with department directors for service line strategy, development and marketing needs.
- Meets regularly with physicians to review market strategy, financial performance and key performance indicators.
- Directs and manages strategic project for areas such as patient flow, patient satisfaction, practice volume, billing and collections, service utilization, and physician and staff training.
- Effectively and proactively manages relationships with all physicians in the market/portfolio, to achieve market targets and develop innovative opportunities for growth.
- Flexible for evening and weekend shifts for physician recruitment events, hospital events, activities and meetings.
- Lead and ensure coordination and collaboration with Provider Network Manager, SMG, and the Hospital Marketing & Physician Liaison.
- Work with Hospital President and VP Network Strategy & Physician Development to insure adequate physician network, physician retention, appropriate expansion and recruitment.
Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- 3+ years of leadership experience in healthcare business/development
Skills:
- Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple projects, working collaboratively with administration, other department directors, physicians, patients and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under deadlines.
- Ability to listen, communicate effectively and express ideas clearly following appropriate channels of communication
- Must be able to respect diversity of each individual’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, physicians, visitors, community members and co-workers.
- Proficient in English grammar/writing and verbal communication skills.
- Personable, professional appearance and demeanor with the ability to work with all levels of corporate management, providers and the community.
- Ability to read, understand and communicate effectively in English; additional languages helpful.
- Good computer skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Physician/Payer contract language.
