Job Description

Position Summary:  The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for independently planning, developing and directing all nutritional care activities for assigned patients including those with complex medical and nutritional needs.  Provides medical nutrition therapy following the nutrition care process and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Actively participates in inter- and intradepartmental activities, meets relevant regulatory requirements, provides quality outcomes and maintains professional competencies. Serves as a resource for medical staff and allied health professionals. 

Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related nutritional field; completion of post grad ADA program from an accredited institution


Required SKILL SET:  Proven verbal and written skills;  Ability to document accurately and timely; Provide education and education tools; Proficency in the use all relevant general office equipment including computer, copier, facsimile machines and audio/visual equipment.  Effective time management skills; Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and remain productive.  Ability to work independently and within a group of team members.   Effective problem solving skills; Ability to assess the complex patient who may have multiple medical problems implicated by intolerance of certain foods and/or poor appetite and/or physical eating problems such as dysphagia that may have conflicting nutrient modification or needs.  Ability to develop a plan of care which is both practical and efficient; Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills
