Regional Director Medical Staff
Primary responsibility is to lead and manage all activities of the Medical Staff Services Office at Mountain Vista Medical Center/Florence Hospital to ensure that needs of medical staff members, administration, ancillary departments, and other customers are met. Provides oversight and support for Medical Staff Director at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital and St Luke’s Behavioral Health Center. Job performance is compliant with all facility standards, policies, and procedures; and to manage and monitor medical staff functions as they relate to applicable accreditation and government agency standards and requirements. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and works under the general direction of the facilities President. The Medical Staff Services Director is responsible to organize assigned workload to maintain a high level of quality, confidentiality, accuracy, consistency, and time management.
Has knowledge and ability to act as a resource for Medical Staff leaders and hospital administration in understanding and enforcement of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures, CMS, DNV, and other accreditation standards.
Acts as a liaison representative to administration, physicians, practitioners, medical staff committees/departments and other hospital personnel.
Assures completeness and accuracy of credentials files of physicians/practitioners presented for initial appointments and reappointment. Coordinates meetings with appropriate Department /Committee Chairs to review applications and confirms follow-up items to include committee approvals through the Executive Committee and the Governing Board.
Works closely with Quality Management to assure an ongoing and effective medical staff performance improvement and peer review program which incorporates the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) processes.
Provides oversight and management of all aspects of medical staff committee and department meetings. This includes preparing agendas, reports, taking minutes, and follow-up on action items and policy changes to assure implementation, communication and overall continuity of medical staff activities.
Respects and maintains confidentiality of information provided and maintained in credentials files, department/committee minutes, and all other documents or correspondence that require such. Assures the integrity of highly confidential information that is protected from discovery by Arizona State Statutes.
Understands and recognizes legal implications of medical staff actions. Works closely with hospital leadership and legal counsel on matters or behavioral events that involve credentialed practitioners.
Minimum 5 years of leadership as a Medical Staff Services Director
